BAPS UAE Women’s Wing welcomed more than 205 women guests and devotees on Monday 21st June to celebrate 7thInternational Yoga Day.
This event was part of the yearly activity organized by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha that promotes a healthy lifestyle by organizing yoga classes at many of its centers around the world on The International Yoga Day.
In the beginning of the Sabha, Master of Ceremony explained history and importance of Yoga from vedic Hindu scriptures and how it is an important mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day. That wasfollowed by a divine dhun, chanting of the names of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Guruhari and a prayer “Asatya ki Divaron Se Satya keUjalo..” to help us to focus on our bhakti yoga. They were devotionally sung by the kirtan team to offer bhakti at the lotus feet of God.

In following segment of the program, a speech on AdhyatmYog - Bhakti Yog was given by the speaker to enlighten all on true spiritual meaning of Yoga –What is devotion and how can we practice bhakti yoga summarizing that Bhakti yogameans a personal relationship with God.
To mark the special celebration of Yoga Day,a short video from Shri Swaminarayan Charitra video series:“Nilkanth and The Secrets BeyondYoga” was shown in the assembly. It is a real-life depiction of Bhagwan Swaminarayan during his travel as Nilkanth Varni and how he mastered ashtanga yogain just 12 months under the instruction of Gopal Yogi.
In the Final Segment of the Sabha, a Yoga Expert,Dr Jyoti Sagar from Mumbai, who is an Associate Partner with The International Board of Yoga and Director of the Mumbai Zone for International Yogalimpic Organisation. She holds a Ph.D. in Naturopathy and Yoga. She has offered her service at senior positions in different organizations. Moreover, along with different social organizations,she has played a vital role in working during this COVID pandemic. She was invited as special guest for a live question and answer session where selected participants from different organizations were given the opportunity to ask their health-related question and how they can benefit from various Yogasana.
Dr. Jyoti,with an experience of 28 years, gave guidance about the advantages of performing yoga to human body, especially for mental health and physical fitness. Dr Leenaben Rathod from the UAE Mahila Mandal performed live Yogasanas for easy understanding of the audience. This was a very interactive and informative session which all enjoyed.
In conclusion, it was reiterated that the true spiritual meaning of yoga is to unite oneself with God and to recognize His divine form and to understand His glory. With this thought, all attended Arti and concluded the sabha with Viday Shlok.
